Toppin Becomes Three-Time All-American
3/9/2001 12:00:00 AM | Women's Track and Field
Toppin's appearance in the championship was the fourth of her career, the most of any UConn athlete in women's track and field history. A height of 5' 11 1/4", which tied for 11th best in the nation going into the meet, had qualified her as she posted the mark in taking top honors at the ECAC Championship.
Toppin first attained All-America status as a freshman placing 12th at the 1998 NCAA Outdoor National Championship with a 5' 9 3/4". A year later Toppin would repeat the effort, this time at the 1999 NCAA Indoor National Championship with a jump of 5' 10", which placed 10th.
The entire UConn women's track and field team will begin the 2001 outdoor season, March 17-24, as they travel to Gainesville, FL, for the Florida Relays.
