Two Huskies Receive BIG EAST Honors

PITTSBURGH, PA (November 16, 2001) -- Two University of Connecticut volleyball players received All-BIG EAST honors Friday night at the annual BIG EAST Volleyball Championship banquet.
Junior Melissa Wooley (Ridgecrest, CA) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team after leading the Huskies in total kills, kills/game, total service aces and SA/game this season. She was twice named the BIG EAST Player of the Week and received ECAC Player of the week honors once. Wooley has also recorded 11 double-doubles this season, the most on the team.
Junior Christine Lambert (Lancaster, CA) was the second Husky to receive honors as she was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. She led UConn this season in hitting percentage, solo blocks, block assists, total blocks and blocks/game while being named BIG EAST Player of the Week once.
The Huskies begin action in the 2001 BIG EAST Championship Saturday afternoon when they take on the No. 1-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Pittsburgh, PA.
