NEW HAVEN, CT (October 24) — For the fifth time this season, Connecticut shutout its opponent as it held Yale scoreless on its way to a 2-0 victory Wednesday night in New Haven, CT.
UConn, which entered the contest ranked 14th in the country, improved its record to 9-3-2, while Yale fell to 5-4-2. The shutout against the Elis marked the 20th in the series for Connecticut, which now leads it 30-25-3.
The Huskies took advantage off the first corner kick of the game when Anthony Curtis (Jr., Kingston, Jamaica) lined the ball into Andrew McLeod (Jr., Meridian, MS), who headed it to the center of the net at the 10:38 mark for his first goal of the season.
With 73:28 in the second half UConn got the insurance it needed when Damani Ralph (Jr., Meridian, MS) came up with the ball in the box and sent it out to Mansour Ndiaye (Sr., New York, NY). He then lobbed the ball up and over Yale goalie from 23-yards out to bring the score to 2-0.
Bryheem Hancock had four saves in the net for the Huskies, while Yale’s Russ Stroud had five.
Connecticut returns to BIG EAST action on October 27 as it hosts Notre Dame at Morrone Stadium in Storrs, CT. The contest is set to begin at 7 p.m.
