Gbandi and Hancock Receive BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Storrs, CT (October 15) – University of Connecticut men’s soccer player senior Chris Gbandi (Houston, TX) was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week and senior Bryheem Hancock (Middletown, DE) was named Co-Goalkeeper of the Week by the BIG EAST Conference Monday afternoon.
Gbandi helped Connecticut to a 2-0 BIG EAST week. He anchored the defense that held No. 21 Boston College scoreless in a 1-0 shutout. In a 3-1 come-from-behind win at No. 23 Syracuse, Gbandi drew a foul and converted the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 in the beginning of the second half.
Hancock recorded two BIG EAST wins over ranked teams, including a shutout last week. He led Connecticut to a 1-0 win over No. 21 Boston College and made three saves in a 3-1 victory at No. 23 Syracuse.
The Huskies take on Georgetown University on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
