The match went as expected, with Stephanie Schindel (Sr., OH, Diamond Bar, CA) leading the team in kills with 15 and digs with eight. As the match only went three games, Schindel's streak of 12 straight double-doubles was snapped. Janice Dykema (So., MH, Kalamzoo, MI) also helped out with eight kills. As a team, UConn's hitting percentage was .310 to CCSU's .057. Julie Erbez (Fr., S, Stockton, CA) and Maria Shaker (Jr., S, Fairview Park, OH) combined to guide the offense in assists. Erbez collected 18, while Shaker had 16.
After securing the fourth seed in the BIG EAST tournament this past weekend, UConn will face top seeded Notre Dame on Sat., Nov. 18, at 1:30 p.m. in the conference tournament semifinals. In the regular season match, Notre Dame defeated UConn, 3-2, in Storrs, CT. However, including Pittsburgh and Syracuse, Connecticut was one of only three teams in the league to have won a game against the Irish and was the only team to take ND to a deciding game. Notre Dame has won four of the last five conference tournaments and has appeared in the finals every year since joining the league in 1995. UConn has never missed the event since it began in 1982.
